ABOUT

Betsy is a writer and blogger, but is first and foremost mom to her now adult daughter, whom she and her husband homeschooled starting in kindergarten.
They found homeschooling to be the best way for their daughter to learn, as they could not only teach their family's values day by day, but also tailor her learning to her individual needs.

Betsy continued homeschooling her through high school, when she began writing about their journey on her blog, BJ's Homeschool at https://www.bjshomeschool.com. During that time she helped her daughter get into college, doing the research on college admissions for homeschoolers all around the U.S. Her daughter got into each of the colleges on her list, including scholarship offers.

Betsy shared tips for doing your own high school journey in her first edition of "Homeschooling High School with College in Mind".
Later, she updated her book.

From one of her early blog readers:

"I have enjoyed your blog for the past couple of years as my current senior gets ready to head off to college next fall.  It helped me keep it together.  My son got accepted by his top two college picks, with more to come!"

.....Kathy from South Carolina

Betsy is a long time homeschooler and a former Occupational Therapist who came home to educate her 2e daughter and to be there as a full time mom.  They flew to China to receive her when she was an infant.  She was a child who struggled with sensory issues and ADHD type issues during the early years.

She and her husband worked together, (her husband, a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor), helping with math and history when he could.

Betsy lives in WA state and enjoys gardening, knitting/hand arts with church friends and lots of hiking, with her camera in tow.

Her daughter is now a college grad, who earned a B.A. in Communications, and is working in her field.

Betsy's Mission

"Betsy's mission is to help and encourage moms and to make homeschooling high school easier and more fun for any and all high school teens, whether they are headed to college or not.  Betsy wants to be an encouragement to you, the homeschool mom, doing the most important job in the world, raising our next generation. Our kids."

That is why she wrote this book.

She also helps out over at the GHF Learners , where she shares resources for homeschooling, as well as on her website, including ones for struggling handwriters and for ADHD kids from her O.T. experience in the past.

But most of what she learned was from homeschooling her daughter.
