Are you looking for a little homeschool help, or do you just want to discuss a question with someone supportive who has been there, in the day to day of homeschooling?

As a veteran homeschooler and blogger, I have often been approached by families with a question or two. I enjoy talking with other homeschool families.

1. Getting started
2. Homeschooling Preschool
3. Elementary
4. Middle and High school
5. Choosing Curriculum
6. Tweaking your curriculum
7. Special Needs - ADHD, Sensory Stuff, and more
8. Encouragement
9.  College

To reach Betsy:
Send me a free facebook message.  Just send your message to my facebook page, BJ's Homeschool, and click on "message."  These are free!  (It would be nice if you connect with me or subscribe, but it is not neccesary.)

Our Homeschool:  I am an eclectic homeschooler, who loves hands-on learning and lots of iced tea.....We used a wide variety of curriculum, both faith based and secular, with some Charlotte Mason inspired techniques thrown in for good measure.

I also have worked in OT, but everything important that I have learned and value most, has been from homeschooling my daughter.  I am just a mom, who has been there, in the midst of ups and downs of homeschooling.

Our Family:  I have been married to my great husband, a vocational counselor, for 24 years.  He and I flew to China to adopt our daughter, at the tender age of 1, a precious gift from God.  I have two sisters who are local, and one of them also homeschooled all of her five kids.

I am so glad that we homeschooled.  It was the best way for us to instill our family values and inspire her learning, one day at a time.  We worked to accommodate her ADHD and sensory issues.  The years have gone by fast.....My kiddo is in college now, and she is close by and our relationship is strong.

High School and College

If you have questions on high school or applying to college, and want to discuss them with an encouraging person who has been there, feel free to contact me.

I also wrote a book on Homeschooling High School with College in Mind, and it is frugal, includes lots of printables, and available as a Kindle on Amazon, to read for free on Kindle Unlimited, or in print @  Amazon Create Space.

Through facebook messages we could discuss such things as:

choosing curriculum
high school electives
assigning high school credit
making transcripts
writing a college entrance essay

Homeschooling instills a love of learning and helps children to become all that they were created to be.....

"I cannot say enough wonderful things about Betsy!  I stumbled upon Betsy’s blog one day while I was frantically searching the internet for some kind of help with my homeschooling struggles.  I had just moved to a new state where the guidelines for homeschooling were completely different than the state I previously resided in.  I reached out to Betsy via a personal message on her facebook page and basically “dumped” all my fears and frustrations in that message.  Betsy responded almost immediately, she was so compassionate and encouraging.  She provided me with numerous ideas and suggestions and continued to cheer me on.  Because of Betsy and her mentoring, I will see my daughter finish her last year of high school successfully.  Thank you Betsy, you are such a BLESSING."   Tammy Clark, homeschooler
"Betsy has been an immense help to me. When we were first starting to homeschool, she offered to assist. Her direction in everything from curricula choice to emotional adjustment was priceless. To this day, we remain connected as she gives me more information throughout our homeschool growth process. My only regret is that I don't live closer to her! Much gratitude and many thanks!!"  Theresa Harmon, Elem. Homeschooler, Pasco, WA

As a first time homeschooling parent - I could not say enough thanks to Betsy.  I first contacted her just to check out the basics for a new homeschooler, but her information and advice have been invaluable.  She is so knowledgeable about a wide range of issues, in many areas around the state.  That, coupled with her great attitude was fantastic!  Betsy - this note of recommendation for your outstanding assistance doesn't touch on all that I would to like to thank you for - but thank you!  You've made a great difference in our homeschool.  Janice Smith, homeschooler, Renton, WA

My blog and my consulting are based on my experience as a homeschool mom only.  I do not give legal, medical, professional educational, OT advice, or do any educational assessments.  The decisions regarding the homeschool, it's curriculum, etc, is the province of the homeschooling family, in accordance with your state's homeschool law.

I also offer tips and advice for applying to college, as a homeschool mom, not as a certified college planner. Any decisions about college, college admissions strategies, medical decisions, re special needs or any other parenting concern, should be discussed with your doctor, therapist, educational consultant, certified college planner, etc.

Thanks for stopping by our neck of woods,
